Please allow 2 working days for us to process your repeat prescription request. Your pharmacy may need additional time to prepare your medication.
You can order your repeat medication in the following ways:
NHS App
The NHS App is a quick and convenient way to order your repeat prescriptions. Please download the NHS App on to your phone and follow the instructions.
SystmOnline
You can order your repeat medication online using SystmOnline.
In Person
You can order your repeat medication in person at either of our practices. Prescription request slips are available at reception for you to complete and hand to our team.
Through Your Pharmacy
You can ask your pharmacy to order your repeat medication on your behalf, if they provide this service.
If you have run out of your regular medication and need it urgently, please call us on 01274 484111 during our opening hours.
Please tell our reception team which medication you have run out of. Your request will be passed to the appropriate member of the team for review.
Please order your regular medication in plenty of time wherever possible, as urgent requests cannot always be issued immediately.
If the practice is closed and you need an emergency supply of a medicine you are regularly prescribed, NHS 111 may be able to help.
We do not accept routine repeat prescription requests over the telephone.
Prescription Queries & Medication Reviews
If you have a question about your medication or prescription, please contact the practice and our team will advise you on the most appropriate way to get help.
From time to time, you may be asked to have a medication review. This helps us make sure that your medicines are still appropriate, effective and safe for you.
You may also be asked to have blood tests, blood pressure checks or other monitoring before we can continue to prescribe certain medicines.
If your repeat medication is showing as due for review, please contact us. This does not necessarily mean that your medication will be stopped, but a review or monitoring may be needed before further prescriptions can be issued.
Nominated Pharmacy
You can choose a pharmacy for your electronic prescriptions to be sent to. This is known as your nominated pharmacy.
Once your prescription has been issued, it will usually be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy for you to collect.
You can view or change your nominated pharmacy using the NHS App. You can also ask a pharmacy or speak to our reception team if you need help changing your nomination.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time. If you need a prescription to be sent somewhere different, please make sure your nomination has been changed before the prescription is issued.
The NHS Pharmacy First service allows community pharmacists to assess and, where appropriate, provide treatment for certain common conditions without you needing to see a GP first.
Pharmacy First can provide help for:
Earache – children aged 1 to 17 years
Impetigo – adults and children aged 1 year and over
Infected insect bites – adults and children aged 1 year and over
Shingles – adults aged 18 years and over
Sinusitis – adults and children aged 12 years and over
Sore throat – adults and children aged 5 years and over
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) – women aged 16 to 64 years
Your pharmacist will assess your symptoms and advise on the most appropriate treatment. This may include supplying prescription-only medication, including antibiotics, where clinically appropriate.
You can contact a participating community pharmacy directly for advice about Pharmacy First.
Many common minor illnesses and conditions can be treated safely using medicines available to buy from a pharmacy or supermarket without a prescription.
Your local pharmacist can provide advice about treating minor conditions and recommend suitable over-the-counter medicines where appropriate.
In line with NHS guidance, we do not routinely prescribe medicines that can be purchased over the counter for minor, short-term or self-limiting conditions, although there are exceptions where prescribing may still be clinically appropriate.
If you are unsure how to manage your symptoms or whether you need medical advice, please speak to a pharmacist or contact the practice.
Medication for Fear of Flying
Manor Medical Practice does not prescribe diazepam or other sedating medicines for fear of flying.
Diazepam and similar medicines are not recommended for treating fear of flying. They can cause side effects including drowsiness, reduced awareness and slower reaction times, and their sedating effects can present additional risks during air travel.
If you experience anxiety or a fear of flying, we recommend considering a fear-of-flying course or psychological approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which can help you manage your anxiety without the risks associated with sedative medication.
Please do not request diazepam or similar sedating medication from the practice for the purpose of flying, as these medicines will not be prescribed for this reason.
