Alternative Access for Those Without Internet

Patients who do not have internet access or a smartphone will still be able to access the service.

Reception staff can complete the online request on a patient’s behalf, asking the same questions that appear in the online form, being submitted to the same queue to ensure fairness for all patients.

These requests will then follow the same process.

Patients experiencing problems with appointment links or who require further assistance are encouraged to contact the practice directly, where staff can issue a new link or complete the request for them.

The practice encourages all patients to familiarise themselves with SystmConnect ahead of the launch and looks forward to providing a more efficient and reliable online service.

Available Help for Patients

Recognising that not everyone is comfortable using online systems, the practice has confirmed that reception staff will be available to assist patients who need support.

Patients can contact the practice by phone or visit in person with their device, where a member of the reception team can guide them through the process.

An instructional video is also available to help users become familiar with the system below:

Cancelling your appointment

If you’re unable to attend your scheduled appointment, we offer easy way to cancel and free up the slot for others:

NHS or Airmid Apps: Quickly cancel your appointments using the NHS app or Airmid app.

If you encounter any issues with the apps, call the practice for assistance in cancelling your appointment.

Please notify us as soon as possible if you cannot attend to avoid a DNA (Did Not Attend). For further details, refer to our DNA policy section below.

Did Not Attend (DNA) Policy

Unfortunately many patients fail to attend their appointments without informing the practice. These appointments could have been offered to other patients. In order to try to address this problem the practice has adopted a policy whereby if a patient does not attend two appointments in 3 months a warning letter will be sent to the patient stating that a further incident may result in removal from the practice list.

Late for your Appointment

Patients who are late may not be seen.

In an attempt to reduce YOUR wait time we are sticking to strict appointment times. If you are late for the start of your appointment the clinician may not be able to see you as they will not be able to give you (and patients who come after you) the full assessment you require due to being rushed.

When a clinician see’s a patient who is late, they in turn run late for all other patients during that clinic.

Please contact the surgery to cancel and re-book any appointment you will be late for.

Home Visits

If possible please try to telephone the surgery before 11am if you require a home visit.

A doctor will review all visits following morning surgery. If you feel your condition is urgent and can not wait until the Doctor contacts you please  call 111 or 999.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be resolved by advice from the clinician, or indeed arrange a hospital attendance.

Home visits are only available for patients who are genuinely housebound because of illness or disability. Transport problems and the weather situation are not reasons for requesting a home visit.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
