How am I invited?

Breast Screening

How am I invited?

An appointment letter will be sent to all women between the ages of 50 and 53. Then you’ll be invited every 3 years until you turn 71 by the Breast Screening Programme via NHS England.

Cervical Screening

How am I invited?

An appointment letter will be sent out to all women between the ages of 25 and 64 by the Cervical Screening Administration Service via NHS England. Patients can then contact the surgery to book a 30-minute appointment with a Practice Nurse.

Please note – if you are currently pregnant or under gynaecology for surgical treatment, the GP surgery will defer your cervical screening for you until it is appropriate for you to attend.

How will I get the results?

The results are then sent to you in the post and also forwarded to your GP surgery.

From September 2025, those who have a negative test result will be notified of this by an NHS App message. It will also appear as an NHS App notification. If the NHS App message isn’t read within 72 hours, a letter will be sent as a failsafe.

Abnormal result letters will continue for the time being to be delivered by post.

PSA Testing

Routine PSA testing is not offered on the NHS.

If you are worried, please arrange an appointment with a GP to arrange a PSA test. Anyone aged 50 or over with a prostate can ask for a PSA test.
