Appointments

Who do I see?

Routine appointments

You are able to pre-book appointments. Please book ahead if you can.

We offer pre-bookable evening telephone consultations between 6.30 and 7.20 pm daily and pre-bookable nurse appointments between 7.30 and 8 am on one day per week (usually Wednesday).  Evening and Saturday GP and nurse appointments are available to attend at Amber Valley Health Hub at Church Farm Medical Centre in Ripley (booked through our reception).

To deal with daily demand whilst still working safely we may have to direct patients to 111 once we are full.  111 carry out a full triage and either arrange treatment themselves or book patients into one of their specific slots in our appointment system.  If the surgery slots are full and they refer a patient back to us we deal with this as advised.  If they recommend same day treatment the on-call doctor will manage this.

We do our best to direct patients to the best appropriate service, such as Pharmacy First or Minor Injuries in the first instance.  We have access to Clinical Pharmacists for medication reviews and queries and First Contact Physio for musculoskeletal problems.

We use EConsult for online consultations.  This can be accessed via the following link – https://parksurgeryheanor.webgp.com

Please be assured we are doing our very best to provide the best service possible and are continually monitoring our appointment system.

Presence of Practitioner

Whilst registered with us we encourage patients to see any of the doctors and clinical staff.  However, they may also if they wish express a preference to receive services from a particular doctor.

Once a preference has been indicated we will endeavour to comply with the request.  However, there may be times when this is not possible, for example; doctor unavailability, or the services requested are not provided by the preferred doctor.

Please also note that should a patient wish to see their preferred GP then it may result in a longer waiting time for their appointment.

Returning Telephone Calls

If you ask one of the doctors or staff to telephone you back and your telephone has been programmed not to accept hidden numbers then please disable this facility temporarily otherwise we will not be able to return your call.

Urgent Appointments

All requests for same day appointments will be taken from 8 am onwards.

You will be asked the reason for your appointment. This will help us to prioritise your call and enable us direct you to the appropriate service/clinician.

If you feel your problem is urgent please let the receptionist know.

Cancelling your appointment

It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters may be removed from the list.

Consult with a Doctor online

For non-urgent medical or administrative help, you can contact us using our online consultation tool – ECONSULT

This service allows you to tell us about your symptoms, ask questions, or request advice without needing to phone or attend the surgery.

Your request will be reviewed by our clinical or administrative team. Submissions are reviewed during our normal working hours, and we will provide a response once your request has been assessed.

Response times can differ depending on the nature of your enquiry and overall demand.

Please note: this service is not monitored continuously, and response times may vary.

If you have a medical emergency or need help outside of practice hours, please contact NHS 111 or 999 as appropriate.
