Register with our practice

Anyone wishing to register at the surgery can register online ( see below) or telephone or present in person at the surgery during surgery hours and ask to speak to a member of the reception team who will give you the appropriate paperwork to complete.

It will help the process if you have the details of your last GP and your NHS number, but this is not essential.

Temporary Patient Registrations

If you are ill while away from home or if you are not registered with a doctor but need to see one you can receive emergency treatment from the local GP practice for 14 days. After 14 days you will need to register as a temporary or permanent patient.

You can be registered as a temporary patient for up to three months. This will allow you to be on the local practice list and still remain a patient of your permanent GP. After three months you will have to re-register as a temporary patient or permanently register with that practice.

To register as a temporary patient simply contact the local practice you wish to use. Practices do not have to accept you as a temporary patient although they do have an obligation to offer emergency treatment. You cannot register as a temporary patient at a practice in the town or area where you are already registered.

Named GP

Registered Patients & GP Contract Requirement to provide a named and accountable GP for every registered patient.

Every patient registered with the Wychwood Surgery has been allocated a named accountable GP and many of you will know your named GP as this will be the GP you usually chose to see when you book an appointment or you may have been informed of your named GP when you visited the surgery or on your repeat medication slip.

Having a named GP doesn’t prevent you from booking an appointment with any other GP registered at the practice should you so wish.
