Who do I see?
Routine appointments
Book or Cancel online with Patient Access Book with the NHS AppPatients are able to book a telephone appointment with the GP or book a face to face appointment over the telephone or online. if you book online please ensure that you book the next available appointment with your own named GP.
If you need to speak to a GP, call the surgery between 08.15 & 17.00 & a receptionist will give you further instructions. You can also contact us online. Please note that the receptionist will ask for details of the nature of your call so that the GP can prioritise his/her calls.
If you require a blood test or appointment with the nurse or Healthcare Assistant these appointments must also be prebooked by contacting reception.
Telephone & Email Advice
The doctors will be pleased to talk to you on the telephone if you have a problem. The receptionists have been asked not to interrupt consultations except in an emergency. Usually the doctors will be available to take telephone calls after morning surgery and you can book a telephone appointment for the doctor to contact you during afternoon session, but we are unable to guarantee a specific time for the call due to the nature of the doctor’s commitments. Please do not email the doctors with prescription requests or asking for Fitness to Work notes, these should be requested through the Prescription request service or the Reception team. The doctors will respond as soon as it is practicable to do so.
Please note the email service should not be used for urgent clinical contact with the practice. If your contact is of an urgent nature please contact the practice by telephone on 01993 831061 or if during Out of Hours please contact 111.
Practice Nurses
The Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants work in the treatment room and are available for consultation Monday to Friday 08:30 – 17:50. The Practice nurses offer pre-bookable appointments please contact reception on 01993 831061 for further details or to book an appointment.
Cancelling your appointment
It is important that you inform the reception staff if you are unable to attend your appointment, this will allow that appointment to be offered to another patient. If you fail to notify the Practice that you are unable to attend, you will be sent a letter informing you that you have defaulted from your appointment. Persistent defaulters maybe removed from the list.
You can also complete our appointment cancellation notification request form. This can only be used if your appointment has been arranged for more than 24 hours in advance. (excluding weekends and public holidays). You can also text to cancel your appointment.
Saturday Mornings (Pharmacy Closed)
We hold an emergency Saturday morning surgery 09:00 – 10:30, you must arrive and book in with the receptionist before 10:30.
It should be noted that it will not be possible to take blood samples or carry out diagnostic tests which are normally carried out by the practice nurse during these appointments, as there will not be a nurse on duty.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do require a home visit, you can help us by calling reception between 08:30 – 10:30.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if he/she thinks that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
It may be that the doctor might decide to ask a member of the Early Visiting Service team to visit you and this will enable a decision on your further care to be made sooner than a home visit from your GP, should you require antibiotics or hospital admission.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
