Meningitis B Vaccination for young people
In response to recent outbreaks, there is a one-off campaign running until then end of March 2027.
Who is eligble?
- Teenagers born between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008.
- Young people born on or after 21st July 2001 who will be starting univerity or another form of residential further education in Autumn 2026.
How will I be invited?
The NHS will be sending out invites via NHS App, text or email to all eligible patients (provided they are registered with a GP), however you do not need to wait until your invited to book an appointment.
How can I book an appointment?
Patients aged 17-18 (born between 1 September 2007 and 31 August 2008) will be able to use the national booking service from 13th July to book an appointment.
Patient aged 24 and under starting uni/further education for the first time in 2026 can find a pharmacy providing a walk-in service from the 20th July.
Can I get my vaccination at my GP practice?
Unfortunately, no. GP practices have not been offered the opportunity to provide this service.
