Ordering repeat prescriptions
Order your repeat prescription onlineYou can order repeat prescription online. Either via Patient Access (link at the top of this page) or another online account provider.
Patient Access is an online service created by Egton Medical Information Systems Ltd (part of our clinical system provider EMIS Health).
You can also request medication via the NHS APP.
You can also request medication in writing (ensure you include your full name, dob and address along with details of the medication needed) or via your chosen pharmacy.
Please see lead times below:
- Prescriptions to be collected from the chemist – 5 working days
- Prescriptions to be collected from the surgery – 3 working days
- Prescriptions requiring reauthorisation – 7 working days
- All other prescription enquiries – 3 working days
Going on holiday?
If you need your medication earlier than usual or need more than the standard monthly supply due to travel plans etc please let us know when putting your order in.
Early requests will not be processed until they are due, unless an appropriate reason is given.
Important: NHS Charges
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
- Prescription (per item): £9.65
- 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £111.60
- 3-month PPC: £31.25
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.

Pharmacy services
Pharmacists can give you advice on a range of conditions and suggest medicines that can help.
They may also be able to offer treatment and some prescription medicine for some conditions, without you needing to see a GP through the Pharmacy First scheme. Conditions they can treat as part of Pharmacy First are:
- earache (aged 1 to 17 years)
- impetigo (aged 1 year and over)
- infected insect bites (aged 1 year and over)
- shingles (aged 18 years and over)
- sinusitis (aged 12 years and over)
- sore throat (aged 5 years and over)
- urinary tract infections or UTIs (women aged 16 to 64 years)
If you go to a pharmacy with one of these conditions, the pharmacist will offer you advice, treatment or refer you to a GP or other healthcare professional if needed.
