{"id":213,"date":"2023-10-06T10:17:50","date_gmt":"2023-10-06T09:17:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nhs-demo.surgeryweb.org.uk\/?page_id=213"},"modified":"2026-06-08T20:28:28","modified_gmt":"2026-06-08T19:28:28","slug":"sick-fit-notes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/surgerywebtemp.org.uk\/m86017\/sick-fit-notes\/","title":{"rendered":"Sick (fit) notes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DWP has issued strict guidelines for doctors to follow when issuing Fitness for Work notes\u00a0(formerly known as \u2018sick notes\u2019).<\/p>\n<p>If the illness is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Less than 3 days: your employer should not require a Fitness for Work note<\/li>\n<li>Between 3 and 7 days: you should hand your employer a &#8220;self certificate&#8221; (SC1). You do not need to see the doctor for this<\/li>\n<li>More than 7 days: You will need a\u00a0Fitness for Work note and must see the doctor to get one. It is <strong>only<\/strong> at 7 days that you need a doctors\u2019 note.
