These include the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dressings and wound care<\/li>\n<li>Immunisations, Vaccinations and Travel Advice<\/li>\n<li>Family planning<\/li>\n<li>Cervical smears<\/li>\n<li>Support for Long term conditions e.g. diabetes<\/li>\n<li>Other lifestyle changes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They also offer special help to those who have high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, or who want to lose weight, or require advice on alcohol or smoking.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Healthcare Assistants work alongside the Practice Nurses and are here to:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>take bloods<\/li>\n<li>take blood pressure<\/li>\n<li>give smoking cessation advice<\/li>\n<li>height and weight<\/li>\n<li>ECGs<\/li>\n<li>Vaccinations<\/li>\n<li>Dressings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Other Services Available<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Minor Surgery<\/li>\n<li>Long-acting reversible contraception (e.g. coils)<\/li>\n<li>Child Health Surveillance<\/li>\n<li>Steroid Injections<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Childhood Vaccinations<\/h2>\n<h4>Vaccination Schedule<\/h4>\n<p>Please see website\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/planners\/vaccinations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">www.nhs.uk\/planners\/vaccinations<\/a>\u00a0for up to date guidance on vaccines.<\/p>\n<h4>Guidance for childhood immunisation<\/h4>\n<p>If your child is scheduled for an immunisation course, parental permission will be required to complete the course. This means that a person with parental responsibility must give approval for the immunisation; this can be done in four ways:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>By attending the immunisation appointment with your child<\/li>\n<li>By providing access for the nurse to contact the parent for a phone call during the appointment<\/li>\n<li>By prior discussion with the Practice Nurse<\/li>\n<li>By providing a signed letter giving consent<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The person(s) with parental responsibility are:<\/p>\n<p>The child\u2019s mother<\/p>\n<p>The child\u2019s father\u00a0<strong>if married<\/strong>\u00a0to the mother<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A legally appointed guardian<\/li>\n<li>The local authority if the child is covered with a care order<\/li>\n<li>A person named in a resident\u2019s order in respect of the child<\/li>\n<li>A father who is not married to the child\u2019s mother\u00a0<strong>will only<\/strong>\u00a0have parental responsibility if there is an appropriate court order, or if the father is named on the child\u2019s birth certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>(Proof of legal responsibility may be requested prior to immunisations)<\/p>\n<p>Failure to provide permission from an appropriate person with parental responsibility will mean the immunisation will not be administered.<\/p>\n<p>Please note grand parents\u00a0<strong>DO NOT<\/strong>\u00a0have parental responsibility unless they have been appointed as a legal guardian; proof will be required before immunisation can be administered.<\/p>\n<p>To help our immunisation clinics run smoothly we appreciate your assistance in this matter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nursing Service The nurses provide a wide range of services in the treatment room.
