Do you care for a loved one who would struggle to manage without your support?<\/strong><\/p>\n

As defined by NHS England: \u201cA carer is anyone, including children and adults, who looks after a family member, partner, or friend in need due to illness, frailty, disability, mental health issues, or addiction, and cannot cope without their support.\u201d<\/p>\n

If this sounds like you, we understand how demanding this role can be. Caring for another person often leaves little time to care for yourself. However, your health and wellbeing are important too. By letting us at Ship Street Surgery know about your caring responsibilities, we can work to better support your health and wellbeing, in light of your caring role. With your consent, we can also connect you with The Carers Centre for Brighton & Hove, a local charity, who provide dedicated support for unpaid carers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Did you know there are over 20,000 unpaid carers in Brighton & Hove alone? That\u2019s about 8% of our community<\/p>\n

How We Can Support You<\/strong><\/p>\n

Identifying yourself as a carer to the practice means we can offer you relevant support, including access to free flu vaccinations and other health services. Our Carers Champions are available to help you register as a carer or share information about local support.<\/p>\n

To register as a carer with us, please complete the GP Carer Registration Form<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and email it to shipstreetsurgery@nhs.net, or call our reception on 01273 778622 and ask to be added to our carers register. With your consent, we can also refer you to The Carers Centre for Brighton & Hove, where additional support and guidance are available.<\/span><\/p>\n
