{"id":345,"date":"2024-04-05T15:08:30","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T14:08:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nhs-demo.surgeryweb.org.uk\/?page_id=345"},"modified":"2025-04-08T12:02:01","modified_gmt":"2025-04-08T11:02:01","slug":"clinics-services","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/surgerywebtemp.org.uk\/c87030\/clinics-services\/","title":{"rendered":"Clinics &#038; Services"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>General Services and Special Clinics<\/h2>\n<p>The surgery offers a comprehensive range of healthcare and general practice care, in addition to the following services and special clinics.<\/p>\n<h3>Respiratory Clinic<\/h3>\n<p>The respiratory clinics are held for patients who suffer with asthma and\/or chronic obstructive airways disease (COPD). These are held by the Practice Nurses who are all trained specialists in Asthma and COPD and see both adults and children.<\/p>\n<h3>Coronary Heart Disease Clinics<\/h3>\n<p>These clinics are Practice Nurse led clinics, with GP support, for patients who have heart disease, have had a <strong id=\"tooltip0\" class=\"cluetip\">stroke<\/strong> or circulatory disease. Appointments for review are sent by post, via the telephone or text message.<\/p>\n<h3>Diabetic Clinic<\/h3>\n<p>The diabetic clinic is run by a Practice Nurse with GP support. Appointments for review are sent out by post,\u00a0via the telephone or text message.<\/p>\n<h3>Joint injections\/Cryotherapy<\/h3>\n<p>Minor procedures\u00a0are carried out by the Doctors. These include joint injections and liquid nitrogen treatment for warts and verrucae. Please note you will need to be assessed by a GP before an appointment is given.<\/p>\n<h3>Post-Natal Clinics<\/h3>\n<p>Post-Natal\u2019s and your baby\u2019s 6 week check are carried out between 6 to 8 weeks.<\/p>\n<h3>Family Planning<\/h3>\n<p>A family planning service is available with either a Doctor or Practice Nurse. This includes contraceptive injections, oral contraceptives and emergency \u201cmorning after\u201d contraception.\u00a0 Other forms of contraception for example coils patients will be signposted to The Sexual Health Clinic at Rotherham District General.<\/p>\n<h3>Cervical Smears<\/h3>\n<p>It is important that all women between 25 and 64 have a cervical smear test. Women aged 25\u00a0to 49 will be offered screening every 3 years and women aged 50\u00a0to 64 will be offered screening every 5 years. If you have not had a smear in the last 3 or 5 years please make an appointment. The Practice Nurse provides this service and can also offer advice on Sexual Health.<\/p>\n<h3>Menopausal\/PMT Clinic<\/h3>\n<p>General advice and help can be sought from the Practice Nurse.<\/p>\n<h3>Blood Tests<\/h3>\n<p>Monday to Friday from 8.00am by our Phlebotomist and Healthcare Assistant.\u00a0 Appointments are necessary.<\/p>\n<h3>Baby Immunisation\/Vaccination\u00a0Clinic<\/h3>\n<p>This is for routine Childhood Immunisations and is held every Wednesday from 1.30pm to 3.15pm by the Practice Nurse.<\/p>\n<p>The Health Visitor and Nursery Nurse will be available at Swinton Brookfield Centre on a Tuesday between 1.30pm\u00a0to 3.30pm for weighing of your baby and general advice and support.<\/p>\n<p>Both clinics are for\u00a0<strong>well<\/strong> babies only. If you are concerned that your baby is unwell please phone the surgery for a routine GP appointment.<\/p>\n<h3>Vaccinations<\/h3>\n<p>Flu vaccinations are available from the end of September every year and are for all patients over 65 and any at risk patient with a chronic disease, i.e. Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Disease.<\/p>\n<p>Pneumonia vaccinations are available all year round and are for all patients over 65 and any patient with a chronic disease, i.e. Asthma, COPD, Diabetes, Heart Disease.<\/p>\n<p>We also offer RSV and Shingles vaccines to any eligible patients, please contact the surgery to check your eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>A travel advice and travel vaccination service is available with the Practice Nurse. For foreign travel allow plenty of time (8 weeks if possible) to fit in\u00a0the scheduled vaccinations you may require.<\/p>\n<h3>Smoking Cessation<\/h3>\n<p>To contact Rotherham Healthwave for more information on their services via <a href=\"https:\/\/rotherham-healthwave.connecthealthcarerotherham.co.uk\/services\/\">Rotherham Healthwave &#8211; Services<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a practice we now offer a Swop to Stop service for any smokers over the age of 18 years old who would like to quit smoking by using a vape aide alongside behavioural support\u00a0 to help them quit.\u00a0 Please contact our reception if you are interested for more information.<\/p>\n<h3>Insurance Medicals and Non-NHS Services<\/h3>\n<p>Certain examinations are not covered by the NHS. These include medicals for HGV licences, PSV licences, fitness for occupation, travel and sporting activities etc, holiday cancellation forms and some medical certificates and forms to be completed. All these services can be arranged via the reception staff who will inform you of the fee involved.<\/p>\n<h3>Sick Certification<\/h3>\n<p>An employee can self-certify for short term illness (up to six working days). After this a Doctor\u2019s Medical Certificate is required, which can only be issued after a review with your GP. Any request from an employee or employer for a doctor\u2019s certificate earlier than six days will be by private certificate, for which there will be a charge.<\/p>\n<h3>Carers Register<\/h3>\n<p>We are looking at ways of supporting people who are carers by establishing a confidential carers register. If you look after someone (perhaps a parent, partner, relative, older person etc) and would like to register as a carer, please speak to the receptionist for further information.<\/p>\n<h3>Health &amp; Wellbeing<\/h3>\n<p>Within our area\u00a0we have an excellent service called RotherHive which provides a range of verified practical mental health and wellbeing information, support and advicefor all adults living in Rotherham.
