It\u2019s important to follow the manufacturer\u2019s instructions so you know how much medicine to take or to give to children, and how often to give it. If you\u2019re not sure, get advice from your pharmacist, GP or Health Visitor.<\/p>\n<p>Never give the medicine more often than recommended, and don\u2019t give any more than the stated dose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Keep all medicines locked-up and out of the reach of children.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Paracetamol:<\/strong>\u00a0Good for headaches, colds, sore throats and painful bruises.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Paracetamol Mixture:<\/strong>\u00a0For relief of pain or fever in young children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sedative Cough Linctus:<\/strong>\u00a0For dry or painful coughs \u2013 but not coughs caused by common colds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Menthol Crystals:<\/strong>\u00a0Add to hot water to make steam inhalations for treating catarrh and dry or painful coughs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vapour Rub:<\/strong>\u00a0Again, for steam inhalations. Also useful for children with stuffy noses or dry coughs. Rub on the chest and nose.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antiseptic Solution:<\/strong>\u00a0One teaspoon diluted in warm water for cleaning cuts and grazes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Antiseptic Cream:<\/strong>\u00a0For treating septic spots, sores in the nose and grazes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calamine Lotion:<\/strong>\u00a0For dabbing (not rubbing) on insect bites and stings and sunburn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dressing Strips:<\/strong>\u00a0For minor cuts.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3\u2033 Wide Crepe Bandage:<\/strong>\u00a0To keep dressings in place. To support sprained or bruised joints.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gauze Squares:<\/strong>\u00a0For cleaning cuts and grazes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thermometer:<\/strong>\u00a0For fevers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Below is a list of useful medicines and dressings.
